Stunning shallow water reef formations and a labyrinth created by corals.
Shab Said is a little further north than Shugayrat and easy to find as there is a small blue hole easily visible from shore or boat. Shore diving is possible but only recommended during high tide and good sea conditions.
If you enter at the south side of the little blue hole you will see a steep reef wall sloping down to (approx) 20m which then turns into a gentle sloping plateau covered in an immaculate hard coral reef.
The main attraction for this dive is the stunning shallow water reef formations. You make your way along the reef wall at 17m until on the left you see a sand bottom area. Then continue right along the reef wall. You now enter what seems like a coral labyrinth created by corals growing on top of one another creating huge living pillars. The bottom now begins to shallow up to 10m. Swim carefully between these massive formations until we again come out on to the reef wall.
Here table coral formations are growing out of the reef making giant discs that protrude from the reef wall with large numbers of black and white snappers in the shallows and turtles are often seen here. Currents can be strong on this site but you are generally sheltered whilst close to the reef.
